Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for areas of Central Alberta.

Overnight and early morning wind chill values of minus 40 to minus 45 will continue through the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to moderate Monday afternoon ending the period of extreme cold.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up.

Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
