Last week, Estevan Fire and Rescue responded to multiple calls, including vehicle collisions, a gas leak, carbon monoxide alarms, and a structure fire. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
On January 14, Estevan Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the corner of Kensington Avenue and Rooney Road. Upon arrival, the duty officer noted that the vehicles had already been removed from the roadway, and no further assistance from the fire department was required.
Later that same day, EFR responded to another two-vehicle collision at Perkins Street and 4th Avenue. EFR crews conducted traffic control and assisted other agencies on the scene. No injuries were reported.
On January 15, EFR responded to a report of a gas smell in a home in northwest Estevan. The duty officer determined that the fire department was not required at the location.
On January 17, EFR was alerted to a commercial fire in east Estevan. Before leaving the station, the business reported issues with its alarm panel, and units stood down.
On January 18, EFR crews responded to carbon monoxide alarms at a residential property. Small amounts of CO were detected, and SaskEnergy also attended the scene. Everyone in the home was evacuated before the department's arrival, and no injuries were reported.
Later that same day, EFR was dispatched to a structure fire in north Estevan. Upon arrival, it was determined that an active fire was burning in an apartment suite. No injuries were reported. An investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time.
