The Jim Pendergast Annual Charity Hockey Game is tonight (Jan. 25), in support of the Red Deer Food Bank.
The Penhold Volunteer Fire Department will take on Bowden Institution Corrections Officers at the Penhold Regional Multiplex.
Admission is a cash or non-perishable food item donation to the Red Deer Food Bank.
Ryan Clarke, Penhold Fire Department Lieutenant explained that it’s important for the fire department to engage with the community and help in ways they don’t typically get to.
“Times are tough right now,” Clarke said. “If we can help a family get some food they desperately need, that will make us quite happy and give us a sense that we're doing the right thing.”
The event was renamed after Jim Pendergast, the late Penhold Fire Chief.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with puck drop at 7 p.m.
