The morning of January 19 was a tragically life changing event for Sarah Vanthuyne of Watrous. The mother of two and entrepreneur running a mobile dog grooming business stepped outside in the morning to check on her dog grooming trailer when a propane tank exploded, igniting Sarah’s clothing and leaving her with severe burns.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to support the young woman who was airlifted to a Saskatoon hospital for medical treatment.
The details provided on the Go Fund Me page recount Sarah’s bravery and presence of mind in managing to get outside and roll in the snow to extinguish the flames. She endeavored to remove the clothing that had been burned to her body. A 911 call brought local paramedics who called in the STARS team for support.
The Go Fund Me messaging goes on to state that Sarah has suffered severe burns on her body, including her most valuable asset as a dog groomer, her hands.”
The single mom will be off from her business during her recovery, placing additional burden on the family. The Go Fund Me page has been established to help offset costs of medical expenses, recovery costs, and provide for her family during her recuperation.
