Ponoka area resident Debbie Zepick was recently awarded the King Charles lll Coronation Medal.

Lacombe-Ponoka MLA Jennifer Johnson made the presentation at a fundraising concert in Clive on Dec. 14. The choir concert, featuring 120 children, raised nearly $10,000 for a Tanzanian orphanage.

"With over 40 years of experience in education and music, she has used her talents and gifts to invest in the lives of others," stated a news release issued by Jennifer Johnson's office. "Through choir, dramas, summer camps and school, Debbie has touched the lives of thousands of children, teens and young adults. The music and the plays have certainly been a drawing card, but it’s the love and commitment of Debbie that inspires and draws more than anything else. Her hard work, generosity, and love are at the heart of the success that surrounds her. Through the many concerts she organizes, conducts and presents, she has raised over a $250,000 so far for the Life Orphanage in Tanzania, changing lives around the world for generations to come."
