Estevan Fire Rescue had an eventful week, responding to multiple calls, including false alarms and a minor vehicle fire.
On Jan. 20, crews attended three incidents. Just after 11 a.m., EFR was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in northwest Estevan. The alarm was triggered by a sprinkler system, believed to be due to a fault.
Around 3 p.m., crews responded to a residential fire alarm in the RM of Estevan, later confirmed to be a cooking-related alarm. EFR stood down as their assistance wasn’t required.
Shortly before 4 p.m., firefighters were called to another commercial fire alarm in southwest Estevan. The alarm was again linked to sprinkler activation, and no fire was found.
On Jan. 22, EFR was dispatched to a commercial fire alarm in northwest Estevan caused by maintenance work on-site, with no emergency found.
Then, on Jan. 24 at 2:15 p.m., crews responded to a vehicle fire in northeast Estevan. A small fire in the back of a pickup truck was extinguished before their arrival, and no damage or injuries were reported.
