The Hultink family is collecting toys and monetary donations, for Ty's Third Annual Giving Back, in memory of their son.
The items collected will be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital Child Life program.
“They support kids through severe sicknesses, provide gifts for the kids and siblings, and fun experiences,” said Tyler’s mother, Deb Hultink.
In 2020, Tyler was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
After undergoing surgery, he was gifted his dream Lego set, a Lamborghini from the Child Life program.
“It was amazing for him, even for rehabilitation and learning hand-eye coordination," Hultink said. “We saw what a blessing it is to receive those items, and the immediate effect it had.”

The fundraiser is a way for the family to honour Tyler’s giving spirit.
“To have Tyler’s memory live on through something like this is special. It’s a way for us to give back when we were so taken care of when Tyler was sick,” Hultink said.
Toys, gift cards, and comfort items can be dropped off at YU-turn (5025 50 Street Lacombe) or 46 Pickwick Lane in the bin until Feb. 6.
Monetary donations can also be sent to hultinkdj@hotmail.com.
The funds raised will be used to purchase Lego sets on Tyler's birthday for Child Life.
Hultink said the community response has been overwhelmingly positive.
“It’s been amazing. It’s a special way to remember and honour who he was,” she said. “We’re always so thankful for how much the community rallies around us.”
