The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce is celebrating their 85th anniversary this year and are hosting two Lunch & Learn events this February. The first event will be held on February 4th at McKenna Hall from 11:30 – 1 P.M. Chris Fields will be the guest speaker at this first event, an addition that executive director with the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce’s Monica Osborn is proud and excited to introduce.
“We are bringing in Chris Fields, who's an informative, entertaining and insightful strategic humorist with a serious message. ‘Dare to be different and reach highest aspirations or join the burgeoning ranks of the unnoticed.’ He has been speaking to communities for the last 33 years on community economic development and so his topic of Five Ways to Create Exceptional is going to challenge attendees to think a little differently about what you do and what you can do to elevate tourism, our community workplace and/or your daily life.”
The second Learn & Lunch event will be held on February 11th from 11:30 – 1 P.M. in the Vimy Room at the Royal Canadian Legion here in Weyburn. This event will feature speakers from SaskPower as they discuss the upcoming Small Modular Reactor or SMR project. Osborn understands the diversification within SaskPower’s portfolio and encourages those to learn about the future of power for SaskPower.
“With the discussions of the coal plants, the shutting down or the end-of-life expectancy of them and obviously the new news that was just released last week might just change that a little bit. However, SaskPower is still going to be looking down the road at other ways to power source our province and so Small Modular Reactors have been on the topic for quite a number of years, so we just want to inform our members and our community.”
