Mainprize Regional Park announced they’ll be opening their online booking for their temporary camping on Saturday, February 1st. This will allow people to plan and book their upcoming camping adventure in the summertime even if there’s still snow on the ground. Michelle Walsh, the general manager at Mainprize Regional Park, is excited for the upcoming 2025 camping year.
“We’ve kind of already announced it online and just hoping everybody's getting ready to make their summer plans and fill up the campsites for the year. Traditionally July 1st is our biggest weekend, this year it falls on a Tuesday, so it’ll be interesting to see how that’s going to play out this year.”
There is movement out at Mainprize all year long however, with privately-owned four-season cabins accommodating those interested in ice fishing in the wintertime, and for regular camping expeditions in the summer. Mainprize also has an 18-hole golf course for those interested in hitting the links.
As well, Mainprize announced they’re looking to fill their working summer positions, including labourers, gate attendants, and even a pro-shop manager for their golf course. Walsh explains the need is constant every year but thankfully it provides some stability for students looking to earn in the summer.
“We have a lot of returning staff. Our big one that we're searching for right now is a pro shop manager and we're also accepting restaurant tenders out there. There's been a little bit of excitement for this upcoming season that there could be some new fresh ideas coming in out there and it will be really fun to see. We usually are on the summer student grant program, so we start putting our jobs out, looking for our students right away in January and it's nice for somebody who's in seasonal work and nice to know ahead of time.”
