Long-time Red Deer City Councillor Lawrence Lee has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Red Deer.
Lee made the announcement on Jan. 31, 2025.
“I’m excited to share my passion and I am ready to start the next chapter of our community’s growth.” said Lee, at a media conference on Friday.
Lee says his primary focus will be to make Red Deer communities safer. He also aims to help make life more affordable for Red Deerians and is looking forward to helping the local economy thrive again.
“I want to make sure the business environment is vibrant and growing so you can have the best job possible, and people can be excited to call Red Deer home,” he said.
Lee also expressed his gratitude to outgoing Mayor Ken Johnston.
“I am grateful for the work (the Mayor) contributed to our community and I’ve learned a great deal in my three terms as a City Councillor.”
Lee plans to share his campaign platform in the coming weeks and months.
“I remain passionate and positive about making Red Deer better for everyday people, and their families.” he added.
Lee is a Downtown Red Deer business owner and sits on several boards and committees. He was first elected to Red Deer City Council in 2013.
The Red Deer municipal election will be held on October 20, 2025.
