The Town of Sylvan Lake and Sylvan Lake Archives are working to conserve local history through a Heritage Management Plan project.

The plan was announced last year to preserve Sylvan Lake’s history, build community pride, and ensure the town’s heritage thrives alongside new development.

The project will be rolled out in three phases.

The first phase is a municipal heritage survey that is available until Feb. 28, followed by heritage asset inventory, and production of the heritage management plan.

The information from the survey will be collected in a database and used to identify the historical buildings, structures, and sites in the town that will be protected under the future Heritage Management Plan.

The survey will also identify the key themes, events, eras, and development trends that have shaped the community.
