For the past 13 years, The Red Deer Downtown Business Association (DBA) has run a weekly Downtown market. Amanda Gould the CEO of the DBA says that although it’s a popular event every week, they just want to change things up.
“We're just looking to do things a little bit differently this year. What we've realized over time is that there are a lot of markets happening in Red Deer and the way things have changed due to market saturation, Covid and the work from home movement. We're looking at providing an alternative, something that will increase foot traffic downtown and just create something for potential consumers and visitors.”
The Market which runs every Wednesday during the Summer months in Downtown Red Deer has proven to be very popular with residents and vendors. Gould explains what the DBA can provide.
“We will still offer all the same sort of support including help with all the permits, navigating road closures and even some marketing funds. We are definitely looking for a partner rather than somebody to take over. We want somebody to work with us and help us take it to the next stage of growth.”
