The southeast is still reeling from some heavy snow recently with blowing snow swallowing up surrounding highways this morning.
Conditions are expected to improve over the day, but that's cold comfort for many who were stuck at home this morning.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says it's difficult to get a bead on how much snow fell as a whole.
"We don't have actually too many snowfall reports yet. The only thing I have right now is eight centimetres in Regina, keep in mind that some of that is blowing around, so snowfall form measurements are pretty difficult and we do rely a lot on the the public to actually send in their reports for these types of events."
"That being said the heaviest amount fell yesterday, but we're seeing some blowing snow today as the wind picked up in behind the system. So pretty poor travel conditions again this morning."
Desjardins says that anything falling from the rest of this system should just be light as that system moves off.
It'll still be a while before conditions are cleared up for travel in the southeast.
"For the southeast, it looks as though clearing basically throughout the day today with slow improvements, expecting a slight chance of snow today, but blowing snow will be ending by this afternoon. Then the cold is coming in, temperatures are going to drop quite substantially after this system has made its way through. Then we get into the bitterly cold temperatures, daytime highs in the minus teens and low minus 20s. For next week, it looks a little bit colder with highs in the -20 and lows near -30."
Desjardins says to keep an eye on highway conditions as the storm progresses as conditions change around the southeast.
