The Redvers & District Recreation Centre has received $10,000 in donations to improve safety at one of its ball diamonds. Kingston Midstream and Tundra Oil & Gas each contributed $5,000 to the ball diamond backstop extension project.
Recreation director Nadine Pryde said the project aims to reduce the number of foul balls leaving the field, ensuring a safer environment for players and spectators.
“We’re extending the backstop to reduce the number of foul balls leaving the field,” Pryde said. “Safety is our top priority in the community.”
The Redvers & District Recreation Centre provides a high-quality space for sports, leisure, and community engagement, with a strong focus on safety and participation. The backstop extension at diamond #3 will help minimize risks and improve the overall game experience.
Work on the project is already underway. “We’ve pulled the old backstop off, and our welder is going to come in to extend it,” Pryde said. “Before the season starts, we’ll have everything back together for a great season.”
While the upgrade won’t necessarily increase the number of tournaments the facility can host, Pryde emphasized that it will enhance safety for fans, children, and players alike.
