The Red Deer rebels put up three goals in the first period en route to a 4-2 win over Moose Jaw Friday night at the Centrium.

The Rebels scored shorthanded, even-strength, and on the power play to build a 3-0 lead.

Red Deer has won three straight, the last two being wins over the Warriors. The Rebels were coming off back-to-back shutouts with 3-0 wins over Regina and Moose Jaw last weekend.

Samuel Drancak opened the scoring shorthanded as he lifted a shot high past the short side of Warriors goalie Michael Hutchison.

The Rebels made it 2-0 when Gleb Semenov notched his first WHL goal.

Red Deer would go up 3-0 on the power play in the final minute of the period as Kalan Lind put home a Ty Coupland rebound.

Moose Jaw made things interesting in the second with goals by Ethan Hughes and Krzysztof Macias (power play).

Ollie Josephson would seal the victory for Red Deer with less than a second left in the game putting home an empty-netter.

Red Deer outshot Moose Jaw 40-20, with both teams finishing the night 1-for-6 on the power play.

The Rebels donned black, white and silver jerseys designed by 8-year-old Beckett Brown of Red Deer. The jerseys were available to purchase through a silent auction taking place at the game with proceeds going to the PC Children’s Charity in the fight against childhood hunger. Brown’s design brought together the club’s original black/silver/white colours worn from 1992-93 through 1996-97 with the classic cow skull logo the Rebels have worn since 1997. The original Rebels skateblade logo was also featured on the shoulder.

Red Deer will look to make it four wins in a row Saturday night at the Centrium against Lethbridge. Puck drop goes at 7 p.m.
