A busy weekend for the Big Six Hockey League as teams were on the ice for both playoffs and the provincials over the last few days.

For their playoffs, the KW Oil Kings fell 6-3 to the Moosomin Rangers, sealing the series 3-0.

The Rangers will now face off against the Carlyle Cougars in the second round, with game dates yet to be decided.

The provincials were also ongoing with the Carnduff Red Devils taking on the Canora Cobras in the SHA Senior C South Quarterfinal's second match, following a 5-2 loss last week.

The Red Devils were unable to take the second game, losing 5-2 again and closing out that series.

Another one got started for one southeast team as the Carlyle Cougars faced off against the Raymore Rockets in the first game of the SHA Senior A South Quarterfinal.

The first game for the Cougars saw a close 6-5 victory, with Cougars coach Brad Pierson saying it was a close game.

"We could have been happier with how our team reacted, we're the underdog in this series and we knew what we had to do to accomplish the goals we wanted. It was 0-0 after one period and then we broke it open in the second. I think we Led 5-1 and 6-1, they battled back hard in the last 12 minutes or so. We identified the mistakes that we did that ended up in the back  of the net, but at the end of the day, we won 6-5 and we're very happy with that."

The Cougars next play the Rockets on Friday in Raymore, with another game set for Sunday if needed.

The next playoff game for the Big Six Hockey League will see the Oxbow Huskies look to get a final win over the Carnduff Red Devils on Tuesday.
