Lampman Fire and Rescue received a $50,000 donation from Kingston Midstream to support fire hall renovations and a fire truck pump repair project.
“A while back, we determined that the fire hall needed to be moved to a different building, and several renovations were required,” said Teresa Biller, and adminstrator with the town of Lampman. “We assessed the cost of the renovations and the pump repair, and then we began a fundraising campaign.”
The project is valued at $125,000, but Biller noted costs could exceed that amount. The $50,000 donation has significantly boosted fundraising efforts, bringing the total raised so far to $70,000.
“Moving the fire department to a different building will give them more space,” Biller said. “It will also provide a command centre to work out of in the event of an emergency.”
She said the upgrades will help Lampman Fire and Rescue operate more efficiently and better serve the community.
“We’re continuing our fundraising efforts to secure the remaining funds needed for the renovations and the pump repairs,” she said, adding that the engineering process has already started.
While no additional fundraisers are currently planned, Biller said they will keep working toward their goal.
