It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frank Perkowitsch announce his passing on February 7, 2025 at the age of 93 years.

“Perk” was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on November 27, 1931 to Frank and Julie Perkowitsch. At the age of nine his family relocated from Woodley to Lampman, Saskatchewan where Frank helped run the family store. He stayed in Lampman (interrupted by a brief detour to attend Campion College) until 1965. His love of the town and its people never wavered, and he especially enjoyed his frequent visits home for the rest of his life.

He would spend the rest of his life residing in Regina where he would meet his future wife, Fran Zimmerman. He would eventually embark on a career in real estate and worked for several brokerages over the years.

He was a person that seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to know him. It was rare to be in public with him and not hear “Hi Perk!” from a random passerby. It was also exceedingly rare for him not to reply with a smile and get into a joke laden conversation. If you told him a joke or a story that he heard a hundred times before he would laugh like it was the first time he heard it. People just genuinely liked being around him.

He was happiest in a fishing boat with his father, brothers, friends and a cold beer. And if you didn’t catch any fish it was because “we should have been over there a few more feet”. He loved football, or just about any sport you could watch and passed that enthusiasm down to his son Jay who enjoyed nothing more than talking about the Roughriders with his dad. He was also known to enjoy a card game or ten.

He brought fun and laughter to any room he was in, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Frank is survived by his wife Fran; son Jay (Leanne); stepsons Kelly (Lori) and Kim (Arlene); his brothers Gerry and Dennis (Sheila); grandchildren Jesse, Shilo, Dillon and their families; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Julie, sister-in-law Fran and stepdaughter Candace.

At Frank’s request there will be no formal service. A small gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Personal messages of condolence may be sent to the family at Almassey Metz Funeral
