During the most recent meeting by the Board of Police Commissioners, they took the time to congratulate one EPS officer for 30 years of service.

Sgt. Kevin Reed was awarded the Exemplary Service Medal for his 30 years, with that being presented by EPs Chief Jamie Blunden.

"I look back 30 years ago, what was here and what wasn't here and what we enjoyed today that we didn't have back then, GPS was one of them. E-mail was not available to us back 30 years ago when we started. Google, mobile phones, as well as Facebook. So when we look at that, the amount of time that's gone through, we've got 3 decades of experience that we have."

Sgt. Kevin Reed was thankful for the award and all of the support he received over the years.

"I'd like to thank my husband and my family because of course policing is a career that can't be accomplished without the support of your family, because every time something happens, we run away from them to help everybody else. So without their support, we can't do this."

"Secondly, 30 years goes very fast, especially when you're working with the crew like I've been fortunate to work with for the last 30 years, including our retired members. So thank you very much guys."
