It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Colette Marie Anderson, age 69, on February 10, 2025.
Colette was born on June 4, 1955 in Vanguard to Vernon and Lucienne Anderson. Colette grew up in Vanguard and graduated from high school in 1973. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the local hospital weekends and summers. In January 1974 she left for Saskatoon to attend Kelsey Institute and graduated in December 1974 from the Nursing Assistant Program. She began work in Swift Current Union hospital in January 1975 on the children’s ward and continued working there until she went to the Wascana Institute in Regina obtaining her Operating Room Technician Diploma in 1976.
Colette moved to Kyle in November 1977 when she married Gerald James Gustafson and started working at the Kyle hospital in the early 1980s where she worked for over 35 years. Together Gerald and Colette kept busy shuttling their 3 kids to all of their various sporting events and hobbies which included hockey, curling, ballet, tap, jazz, piano, air cadets, ball, volleyball, badminton, track and field, cross country running, downhill skiing, water skiing and we are likely missing a few. She was very community minded and spent many years on town council, working in the rink kitchen and the Kyle Ambulance.
Colette is survived by her children Jeff Anderson, Jillian Carlson (Brad), Jay Gustafson (Emily). Her precious granddaughters who she loved and treasured more than anything Jannae and Brogan Carlson. Her siblings Danny Anderson, Mary Anne (Brian) Woods and Aileen Anderson and sister in law Judy Mooney and brother in law Warren (Roberta McKnight) Gustafson as well as numerous nieces and nephews who she loved and adored.
A family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Swift Current SPCA in Colette’s memory.
