Local rinks will be busy this weekend with several senior hockey teams in action in both provincial and league playoffs.  

With the first round of the Long Lake Hockey playoffs in the books, the league playoffs will hit the pause button with provincial playoff action. 

On Friday, In the Provincial ‘A’ category, the Drake Canucks will host the Loreburn 19ers in game two of their best of three series. Loreburn won game one 5-2, if Drake wins tonight, game three would be on Saturday night in Drake.  

The Leroy Braves will begin their series against the Kyle Elks on Sunday, February 23 in Kyle. Game two and if necessary, game three would be back in Leroy on March 1 & 2.  

Also on Friday night, in the ‘C’ group, the Lanigan Pirates begin their series on the road against the Dinsmore Dynamos. Game two is in Lanigan on Sunday afternoon at 3:00. If a third game is necessary, it will happen on Saturday, February 22 in Dinsmore. 

After moving past the Hudson Bay Hunters, the Foam Lake Flyers will take on the Canora Cobras in a best of three series. Game one is Friday night in Foam Lake, with game two on Monday in Canora. If a third game is required, it will be on Friday, February 21 in Foam Lake.  

The Wadena Wildcats were eliminated last week against the Lumsden Monarchs with a two-game sweep.  

The Twin Rivers Hockey League playoffs resume this weekend, as the Cudworth Tricky Maroons battle the Allan Flames in a deciding game three in Allan on Friday night, after the teams split their first two games.  

The Bruno T-Birds will try and force a game three as they host the Birch Hills Blackhawks on Friday night. If Bruno wins, game three happens on Saturday night in Birch Hills.  

In the Wheatland Hockey League, the St.Brieux/Lake Lenore Rivals host the Kelvington Wheat Kings in a deciding game three on Friday night in St. Brieux, with the two teams splitting the first two games.  

The Jansen Jets lead the Hudson Bay Hunters 1-0 with game two tonight in Hudson Bay. If the Hunters prevail tonight, then game three is in Nokomis on Saturday night.
