To address rising operational costs and low attendance, BGC Clearwater County is ending licensed childcare services in Rocky Mountain House, effective Feb. 28.
“Our mandate is to provide low-cost accessible services to the community and licensed childcare was no longer able to fit within this mandate,” a BGC of Red Deer & District, and Youth HQ news release said.
As a result, programming will be pivoted away from childcare, in favour of community-based no-to-low-cost programs.
“We feel this would be a better use of United Way and FCSS funding support and will address an identified gap in the community and serve considerably more children and youth,” the release said.
BGC Clearwater is currently in the planning and development stages of introducing a program that will benefit many children, youth, and families in Rocky Mountain House.
