The Lacombe Generals have advanced to the second round of the NCHL playoffs after sweeping the Westlock Warriors in three straight games.

The Generals won game three of the best-of-five series Friday night by a score of 8-2 in front of 200 fans at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex in Lacombe.

Specials teams was a big factor in the game with Lacombe capitalizing on four of their six power play opportunities.

Blair Boulerice and Taylor Mulder each had a pair of goals for the home side.

The Generals outshot Westlock 40-23 on the night.

Wetaskiwin has also advanced to the second round of the playoffs after sweeping Bonnyville in three straight.

Elsewhere, the Devon Barons lead the Innisfail Eagles 2-1 in their best of five.

Stony Plain is up two games to none against Camrose.
