Special teams were once again the Rebels downfall as the team fell 5-2 to Edmonton Monday afternoon in front of 7,000 fans at the Centrium.
Red Deer was looking for their second straight victory over the Oil Kings after a 3-1 win on Friday.
The Rebels got off to a hot start recording the first seven shots on goal.
However, it was Edmonton's Lukas Sawchyn who opened the scoring midway through the first tapping home a cross-crease pass past Chase Wutzke.
Gracyn Sawchyn and Rylen Roersma added power play goals for the Oil Kings to go up 3-0.
Red Deer would get on the board when Jhett Larson fed Becket Hamilton for his 12th of the season to close out the first.
The Rebels inched closer in the third as Matthew Gard slipped the puck past Edmonton netminder Alex Worthington.
Edmonton would seal the victory with goals by Adam Jecho and Gracyn Sawchyn (short-handed empty net).
The game also marked Sockey Day in Red Deer with fans donating a large truck load of socks to United Way Central Alberta.
Red Deer returns to the ice Friday night at home against Saskatoon. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
