After extreme cold has buffeted the southeast we'll see a return to very unseasonable warmth over the next few days.
Conditions will still be cold on Wednesday, and potentially record-breaking, but after that we're likely to see a warming system move in.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Rose Carlsen says that we'll see winds shift and the climate as a whole change a lot.
"The reason why we've had such an extreme cold for so long is because we've been in a pattern that's been allowing for Arctic air to essentially just funnel down from from the north through the prairies."
"But what we're looking to this weekend is we're going to have a bit more of a pattern shift where we're shifting towards more of a westerly flow, which is allowing warmer air from the Canada Pacific region to be intruding over the prairies, allowing for the warm-up."
Temperatures are looking to be seasonal by as early as Thursday, with even warmer temperatures to come after that.
By the weekend, positive temperatures will even be making their way into the southeast which may cause some slippery conditions.
