May 29, 1944 – February 16, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeanine Wiebe, a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, on February 16, 2025. Born on May 29, 1944, Jeanine lived a life filled with love, kindness, and laughter.
In her final years at Cypress House, and more recently at The Meadows, Jeanine became known as a true ray of sunshine. Her infectious humor and caring nature earned her endearing titles like “angel” and “incredible lady.” Always quick with a joke and a smile, she brightened the days of all who knew her.
Jeanine was deeply cherished by her family, and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in their accomplishments and was always eager to celebrate their milestones.
During her time at the family home, Jeanine welcomed every holiday with open arms. Her kitchen was always full, ensuring that no one left hungry and that everyone took home leftovers to enjoy later.
She loved to sew, and one of her most recent projects—unfortunately left unfinished—was working on purses for each of her granddaughters. Her sister, Norma, and sister-in-law, Carol, will continue to work on completing the purses in her memory. Another of Jeanine's more recent hobbies was managing the 'herding' of cats at Cypress House. With a mischievous grin, she'd lure them into the elevator, sending them to any floor but hers, or keep them in check with her trusty water bottle, always by her side.
Jeanine had a remarkable ability to remember and celebrate the important moments in the lives of those she loved. She would write notes on whatever she could find—gum wrappers, notebooks, random pieces of paper—jotting down birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. These small but meaningful gestures were scattered throughout her room (and I mean everywhere), a quiet reminder of her love and care for those closest to her.
Jeanine is survived by her son, Travis (Terra); daughters-in-law, Lori Anne Kendell Nelson and Sharna Wiebe; grandchildren, Kristine Gates (Nathan), Keane, Ryan Nelson, Shaylena, Makenna, Rya, and Aspen; six great-grandchildren; her siblings, Terry Dyck, Norma Neufeld, Jim Dyck (Mim), and John Dyck (Carol) along with many others whose lives she touched.
Jeanine was predeceased by her husband, Johnny; sons Kevin and Trevor; grandchildren, Tyler and Brock; and her parents Pete and Edith Dyck.
Our family is deeply grateful to the staff at Cypress House and The Meadows for their compassionate care during her time there.
A burial service to celebrate Jeanine’s life will be held at a later date, once the Saskatchewan weather permits. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jeanine’s memory.
