Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters knocked it out of the park, one strike at a time with their Bowl for Kids Fundraiser.

With over 100 bowlers taking part in the event last week (Feb.10-14), they were able to raise $18,000.

Program Lead Jillina Beaudoin says they received a big helping hand from the Muenster School.

“Muenster School raised $10,100 and that’s just the school themselves and that’s students from Grade three, four, five and six, so incredible, incredible work by the students.”

Beaudoin noted the money from Muenster School was a result of the students collecting pledges, she added with the donation of a Chromebook from This is Your Computer for the top student pledge earner that there is some extra motivation as well.

The top student pledge earner was able to raise $1,000.

With the money generated from this year’s fundraising efforts, Beaudoin says the money will remain in the community to help out the group and its participants.

“That goes into things like our programming, certain programs like in-school mentoring, it goes to recruit volunteers.”

Beaudoin explains the money would also help matches with Big Brothers and Big Sisters attend events or participate in an activity without worrying about the cost.

With another year of Bowl for Kids Sake in the books, Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Humboldt will now turn their focus to their next big fundraising event, the Diva for a Day Golf tournament in June. Beaudoin says they will be announcing further details of the event in the near future.
