The Town of Rocky Mountain House will be inspecting trees on both public and private lots.  Using Bylaw 2012/04V, their goal is to protect and maintain public trees and outline property-owner responsibilities for private trees and shrubbery.

Parks crews will be addressing trees on public property in the coming weeks, focusing on overhanging branches, sightlines and signs of Black Knot disease.

During the course of inspecting public trees, Town staff will notify residents if they observe a tree on their property that requires pruning. Please refer to www.rockymtnhouse.com/p/tree-health for related information.

Minor overhang infringements may be pruned by Town staff in the course of their regular duties.

Why now?
Pruning is usually done while trees and shrubs are dormant. For Black Knot, pruning infected trees in winter months is best: The lesions are more noticeable from the lack of foliage and the disease is dormant so there is less risk of spread.
