Weyburn Curling Club is hosting Curling Day in Canada tomorrow. A full day of fun both on and off the ice celebrating the over 200-year-old sport here in Canada. Curling Canada has recognized February 22nd as Curling Day in Canada to celebrate the growth and passion for the sport. Here in Weyburn, there are many events from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. to celebrate. Paige Tenbult, board member with the Weyburn Curling Club, highlights the events of tomorrow.

“Curling Day in Canada is a day to recognize the Curling community and the Curling Club here in Weyburn decided to host a couple events to partake in the day. The Weyburn Young Fellows Lounge at the Weyburn Curling Club is going to be open, our canteen is also going to be open. So come down to the rink and take part in the social activities there, but we're also going to offer some free curling.”

Anyone who wants to try out curling can get their chance to throw some rocks and maybe fall in love with the sport. The Curling Club is also opening their Turner Curling Museum, hosting one of the largest collections of curling memorabilia allowing people to enjoy some curling history.

Down the road, over at the Credit Union Sparks Centre, people can try a new way of curling with Crokicurl. Corkicurl combines two iconic Canadian games, Curling and Crokinole, into one fun outdoor game that all levels can enjoy. Tenbult states events like Curling Day in Canada help celebrate the sport many love, and the people who love it.

“It's just everywhere you look (within) the sport of curling, you will find athletes, coaches, volunteers and fans who embrace and value the lifelong connections that are made possible through our sport of curling. So, come enjoy the sport with us and also try to throw some rocks, and maybe you’ll fall in love with the sport as much as we love it.”
