This weekend the second round of the Big Six Hockey League Playoffs will see its second series kicking off with the Carlyle Cougars and Moosomin Rangers taking centre stage.

The Cougars took three straight wins over the Midale Mustangs in the first round to get here, while the Moosomin Rangers ran into a bit more trouble with a 3-1 series victory against the Oxbow Huskies.

Now as the two teams are setting up to begin their second round Carlyle Cougars Coach Brad Pierson says even with fewer bodies he's still looking forward to the match.

"Well we're a bit shorthanded going in tomorrow night still being with a couple of suspensions and just guys not available, but we're looking forward to it. I think they are a bit short too where they had been a bit short and it would be an interesting game, we match up quite well."

"We lost in overtime one game by a goal or two up there, so I'm interested to see how it's going to be. It should be a very entertaining series."

After a first-round series that had a few goals squeak by them Peirson says he's hoping to see some better defense this time around.

"It seems like forever since we finished our last playoff round and I think we just got to be really sound defensively and score on our opportunities. I felt we got better at that as the year went on and I think we can keep the puck out of our net. We have a great goaltender, but if we find some team defence and scoring, we have the opportunity to have good success."
