It's been a busy February for the Estevan Curling Club, with some of their youth teams hitting the sheets and getting impressive wins.
The club hosts a number of ECS teams, who recently placed in a few events in February.
Estevan Curling Club President Pauline Ziehl-Grimsrud talks about the success seen recently by those teams.
"We've had a busy couple weeks with the high school currently and the ECS Junior Doubles team on February 7th played here in Estevan at districts and pleased to say that our doubles team was victorious and it was hosted here at the Estevan Curling Club. With the juniors, they do not move on to regionals. That was the only event where they would go this year."
"Then we have their ECS senior girls team and they were off to districts at Wawota on February 14th and they came out in second place. So that moves them on to regionals on February 28th and March 1st. Again, that will be at the Wawota Curling Club for regionals."
"The ECS Boys played in districts here in Estevan on February 14th. They won first place and that will send them off to the regionals, which will be February 28th, March 1st and that will be here in Estevan."
"Our ECS senior doubles team did not place them one or two, but there were openings until they had been invited to move on to regionals and that will be February 28th, March 1st and we are hosting that here in Estevan also."
While the curling season is set to come to a close soon Ziehl-Grimsrud says they still have plenty going on in the community.
"We're going to have a busy weekend on the 28th and 1st with all our high school curling going on and we will be continuing with all our leagues and come the end of March for the 20th, 21st, and 22nd. We will be having our OTS Bonspiel here at the curling club."
"So we've got a busy couple weeks ahead of us here before we close up at the end of March and we also invite other schools who haven't booked time for that curling to give the curling club a call and we'll book them some time and we do have and put that curling times available still."
Overall Ziehl-Grimsrud says she's thankful for the busy year they've had so far.
"I love having everybody here and we'd like it to be busy. We've had a really good season and we've had lots of youth events and that's what we like to see."
