A 5-0 win last night (Feb. 21) against the Lethbridge Eagles leaves the Cochrane Chaos one win away from wrapping up their AJFHL south division semifinal best-of-three series.
That win could come as early as tonight in Lethbridge. Should the Eagles put up a strong front, the series return to Cochrane on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. for the rubber game.
The Chaos dominated the play in the series opener, blasting 54 shots on Eagles goalie Carolyn Demchuk. It took 12 minutes for the Eagles to land their first of four shots in the opening stanza and had 29 on the night.
Chaos head coach Ryan McKay said his club played well but believes they have even more to offer.
"Lethbridge is a very scrappy team," says McKay. "They play a hard fought, scrappy game and sometimes it pulls us out of our game, and then we have to change our systems and what we're trying to do. Overall they played hard, they put a lot of pucks in the net, and came up with the win."

Teah Workman had a three-point night with a pair of goals and an assist. Sarah Gaiser, Alexis Smith, and Sabrina Allen scored the rest.
Goalie Elizabeth Campbell, the top goalie in the AJFHL, earned her first playoff shutout as a Chaos.
"She's awesome," says McKay. "She backbone of this team on the back end, and we're usually pretty confident when she's in net."
