Rocky Mountain House RCMP are urging businesses to be vigilant after recent reports of prop money being circulated in the community.
Police have received several reports of fake Canadian $100 bills, which have been used to purchase goods and services.
Many of the bills have identifiable markings indicating they are fake:
- The serial numbers on the bills are all the same and appear darker than normal.
- The bills say “Prop Money” in the hologram, located on the front of the bill near the top.
- The lettering “Prop Money” has been scratched out on some of the bills.
- Some of the bills are missing the braille.
It is an offence to recirculate prop or counterfeit currency.
If you come into contact with what you believe to be fake or counterfeit currency contact Rocky Mountain House RCMP at (403) 848-2882.
If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app.
