An Edmonton resident has been arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in Red Deer.

On Feb. 17, the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) arrested a male following a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the Parkvale community of Red Deer.

As a result of the investigation, police seized over $13,000 in Canadian currency, 112 grams of cocaine, 118 grams of crack cocaine, 38 oxycodone tablets, along with other items and materials used in the trafficking of controlled substances.

Shadi Almohamad, a 22-year-old resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Possession of items used to traffic controlled substances
  • Failure to comply x4

Almohamad was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 25, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.

“This enforcement operation underscores our commitment to safeguarding the community from the harms of illicit drug trafficking," said Cst. Tim Burke of Red Deer RCMP GIS. “Red Deer RCMP remain proactive in their efforts to combat drug related crimes.”
