Estevan police responded to a series of incidents over the weekend, including hit-and-runs, break-ins, fraud, drug-related charges and breaches of court conditions.
Officers received a report on Feb. 21 of a hit-and-run in the Pleasantdale area. A parked vehicle was struck on the street, damaging the driver’s side mirror. Police attended the scene, and the matter remains under investigation.
Another hit-and-run was reported from Feb. 7 in a grocery store parking lot. A statement was obtained, and the investigation is ongoing.
On Feb. 21, police received a parking complaint in the 700-block of Second Street. Officers spoke with the registered owner, and the vehicle was moved.
A report of criminal harassment remains under investigation.
A welfare check was completed on a man in the Pleasantdale area. He was found to be OK.
Police responded to a call about a break-in and uttering death threats. When officers arrived, three people fled on foot. Police pursued and arrested two men and a woman. A man and woman were later released with charges of break and enter and uttering death threats. The second man was lodged in cells until his court appearance. He was found in possession of more than 60 grams of methamphetamine and faces charges of break and enter, uttering death threats and trafficking a controlled substance.
Police were called to a Pleasantdale residence in the middle of the night regarding an intoxicated, unwanted guest. Officers arrested a woman from Regina for unlawfully being in a dwelling. Due to her level of intoxication, she was held in cells for the night.
On Feb. 22, police received a report of a vehicle parked on the lawn at the Leisure Centre. Officers were in the process of writing a ticket when the driver identified themselves. They were given a warning and moved their vehicle.
A theft from a residence was reported and remains under investigation.
Police received a report of fraud on Facebook. The complainant attempted to purchase an item and sent an e-transfer to the seller but then lost contact. The matter remains under investigation.
A scooter was reported stolen and remains under investigation.
Police were called to an abandoned property managed by the city after a report of individuals inside. Officers found a woman in the building and sent her on her way.
A report was made of a lost or stolen wallet and jacket. A man had been out socializing the night before. The matter remains under investigation.
Two separate noise complaints were received from the same apartment building—one regarding individuals yelling in one suite and another about loud music in a separate suite. Police spoke to both individuals and issued warnings under the bylaw.
Police received a report of prank calls made to two separate companies. Officers have identified the number responsible, and the investigation is ongoing.
A report of a suspicious person prowling near a residence in the Westview area remains under investigation.
On Feb. 23, police conducted a curfew check at the request of electronic monitoring officials. A woman was found to be home, but her monitoring system was no longer charging. The probation officer and monitoring officials were notified.
Officers are investigating a dispute between neighbours. Video surveillance is being reviewed, and charges are pending.
A second curfew check was requested for a different person after their monitoring device sent an alarm. Officers attended the residence and found the individual at home.
A 43-year-old man was arrested for breaching his conditions related to having no contact with a specific individual. He was lodged in cells and is set to appear in Estevan provincial court in April.
