The engines were roaring, and community spirit was high as Macoun Town Hall hosted a Skidoo rally over the weekend, raising funds to improve the facility and bring residents together.

Marissa Martin, secretary of the town hall, said the event exceeded expectations, with 76 registered riders and around 150 people passing through throughout the day.

“We were a little concerned leading up to it because it was so darn cold,” she said. “But it turned out to be a beautiful day.”

The rally, along with a silent auction and raffle, brought in an estimated $5,000, though final numbers are still being tallied.

The funds will go toward long-awaited renovations at the town hall.

“We’ve been working on refurbishing the hall for the past 10 to 12 years, and we’re really hoping—fingers crossed, light at the end of the tunnel—that we’ll be done before the snow flies in 2025.”

Once complete, the hall will host dances, weddings and bingo nights, with plans for future expansion.

“We’re really hoping to bring the community back to life.”

Martin said the support from attendees and sponsors was overwhelming.

“The raffle tickets sold like crazy—we started at 10 in the morning and by 5 p.m., there were hundreds of tickets in each bag,” she said.

She expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed.

“We want to send out the biggest thank you to everybody who supported us—all of our sponsors,” she said.

“Without the small-town community, we wouldn’t be able to have this event or see it be so successful.”
