Saturday kicked off the Crossfield Farmers Market season, which also means the 4th annual Rutabaga Bowl took place.
Cheryl Shea, the manager of the farmers market, was excited to kick off their 50th season.
"We had 90 Alberta food and beverage vendors attend our opening day. I think this is going to be a great year for farmers markets because it's the best place to find Alberta products."
When it comes to the Rutabaga Bowl (they use Rutabaga's to bowl), they had 28 adults step up to participate in the competition this year.
"It's excellent to see it growing. It is something that gets talked about quite often throughout the community and Alberta as well."
Here were the winners of the adult division:
- 1st place-Carmen Cornelius of Carmen’s Bigway Foods Crossfield
- 2nd place-Jordan Harris
- 3rd place-Katherine Hopkins
Here were the winners of the kid's division (last name withheld for confidentiality):
- 1st place-Madsen
- 2nd place-Elias
- 3rd place-Eileen

Shea mentioned her favourite award to hand is the "Worse Rutabaga Bowler of Alberta" award. This year's worst bowler was Carmen Steel of Sharp as Steel Hair Design in Crossfield

Shea is proud to see how the market has grown over the years.
"We have vendors that come as far as St. Albert, Canmore and Lethbridge, it is always a great start to our year."
