A four-month investigation into a case of drug trafficking by the Regina Police Service resulted in the execution of eight search warrants last week in three communities, including Alameda and Frobisher here in southeast Saskatchewan. The investigation and evidence collected during the execution of the warrants resulted in the arrests of five people who are facing a number of charges.
The RPS stated the warrants executed last Thursday and Friday uncovered 7.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 476 grams of cocaine, 22 grams of methamphetamine, two handguns, three vehicles, and over $150,000 in cash. The value of all the items seized is estimated to be $1.5 million.
Morteza Ahadi, a 32-year-old from Alameda, was among those arrested. Ahadi is facing 11 charges: commission of an offence for a criminal organization, two counts of conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a forged document with intent, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a loaded, prohibited firearm, and careless storage of a firearm.
Also charged are 36-year-old Emmanuel Ramadan Bashir of Regina, 44-year-old Randal Lee Racette of Regina, 24-year-old Tarick Polius of Toronto, and 21-year-old Michael Jourdan of Toronto. The four are facing similar charges as Ahadi, as listed by the Regina Police Service on their website.
The five suspects all made their first court appearances this past Friday in Regina.
