The Blackfalds RCMP investigated the report, and as a result, concluded that the story had been fabricated.

RCMP have confirmed that there is no threat to the public.

"This is why we work quickly to determine the veracity of such reports in order to inform and protect the public while at the same time not causing unnecessary anxiety and fear."

Original story:

The report said two men made a reference to the child about candy, and the child said they attempted to grab them.

The child ultimately was able to run off and the vehicle left with no additional incident.

Following the report, police went door to door in the neighbourhood, seeking video surveillance of the area.

“These investigations are to be taken seriously. We don't yet have any evidence to concretely support what's being reported, but we're working hard to do that,” said Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, Acting Alberta RCMP Media Relations Manager.

Adding, “We would like to advise people to be aware of this occurrence, but at the same time, be mindful that we're still investigating it, and trying to determine all of the details of what may have occurred.”
