The Red Deer Rebels got back in the win column Friday night at the Centrium pulling out a 2-1 shootout win against Calgary.
The Rebels have now beat Calgary four times this season.
After a scoreless first period, Calgary's Rylan Ng opened the scoring 6:34 into the second tipping in a shot from Kalem Parker.
Red Deer would answer later in the period when Derek Thurston blasted a long-range shot past Hitmen rookie goalie Anders Miller.
The Rebels outshot Calgary 14-1 in the third, including two power play attempts, but were unable to find the go-ahead marker.
Overtime settled nothing.
Matthew Gard and Ty Coupland scored for Red Deer in the shootout to seal the victory.
Red Deer outshot the Hitmen 37-21 on the night. The Rebels were 0-for-3 on the power play, while Calgary went 0-for-1.
The Rebels are back in action Saturday night at home against Kelowna with it being Retro Night and Brandon Hagel Bobblehead night. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
The first 1,400 fans will receive a Brendan Hagel bobblehead.
