The Lacombe Generals have punched their ticket to the North Central Senior AA Hockey League finals with a 3-2 win over Stony Plain Friday night in front of 400 fans at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

The Generals swept the best-of-five second round in three straight.

The Eagles opened the scoring early in the second when Jordan Ceh found the back of the net.

Lacombe answered early in the third on the power play with Luke Coleman scoring the tying goal.

The Generals would take their first lead of the game just over a minute later with Troy Maclise adding another power play marker.

That lead wouldn't last long, however, as Grayson Pawlenchuk answered quickly for Stony Plain.

The contest would remain tied at two until late in the third when Jamie Johnson put home the game-winning goal with 1:25 left in the period.

Lacombe outshot Stony Plain 37-30 on the night.

The Generals ended the game 2-for-8 on the power play. Stony Plain went 0-for-6.

Lacombe will face the winner of the series between Innisfail and Wetaskiwin.

That series is tied at a game apiece. Game 3 goes Saturday night at Co-op Place in Wetaskiwin. Puck drop is at 8 p.m.

Game 4 is back in Innisfail on Sunday at 5 p.m. Game 5, if necessary, will take place next Saturday (Mar. 8) in Wetaskiwin.
