Ty Coupland had a career night on Saturday with four goals and one assist leading the Red Deer Rebels to a 10-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets on Brandon Hagel Bobblehead Night.

Red Deer scored 10 or more goals for the first time since they netted 11 at Moose Jaw on March 1, 2022.

Saturday night's game was the only meeting between the two teams this season.

Kelowna opened the scoring at 7:46 of the first on the power play with Dawson Gerwing finding the back of the net.

It was all Red Deer after that with the Rebels scoring ten straight goals.

Coupland would score a pair of power play markers in the first, with Jhett Larson adding a regular strength goal before the period was up to give the home side a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Rebels continued to roll in the second.

Coupland completed the hat trick at 4:32 of the second, scoring his third power play goal of the night.

Kalan Lind, Talonn Brigley, and Luke Vlooswyk would also score for Red Deer in the second.

Coupland scored his fourth of the game at 6:11 of the third, with Drancak and Pederson also scoring in the final frame.

The Rockets netted a power play goal late in the third period to make the final score 10-2.

Peyton Shore stopped 24 of 26 shots for Red Deer. Rockets goalie Rhett Stoesser gave up 6 goals on 30 shots before being pulled midway through the second. Jake Pilon stopped 22 of 26 shots in relief.

The Rebels went 5-for-9 on the power play, while the Rockets were 2-for-4.

Vlooswyk, Beckett Hamilton, and Ollie Josephson all had three points on the night.

Red Deer continues its eight-game homestand Tuesday night against Brandon.
