Gard opened the scoring with 7:57 left in the first, cashing in a rebound on an Ollie Josephson shot.

Jhett Larson made it 2-0 early in the second, stuffing home a rebound past Wheat Kings goalie Ethan Eskit.

The Wheat Kings cut the lead in half when Sylvan Lake's Caleb Hadland went end-to-end beating Rebels netminder Peyton Shore.

Brandon would tie the game late in the period with Joby Baumuller finding the back of the net.

Wheat Kings star Roger McQueen was ejected from the game for boarding for a hit on Becket Hamilton midway through the third, leading to a three-minute power play for the Rebels.

Gard scored his second power play goal of the game, tipping home a shot from Josephson.

The Rebels would go up 4-2 a minute and 20 seconds later with Gard completing his first WHL career hat trick.
