The North Central Senior AA Hockey League finals get underway Saturday night in Lacombe at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex with the Generals hosting the Innisfail Eagles.

Lacombe is undefeated during this year's playoff run, sweeping the first two best-of-five series against Westlock and Stony Plain.

Innisfail has only lost once, sweeping the first round against Devon, before beating Wetaskiwin in four games.

The two teams split the season series with the Eagles beating the Generals in Lacombe on Oct. 19. The Generals won the second and final matchup 5-3 in Innisfail on Dec. 7.

Lacombe finished atop the regular season league standings with 28 points, while Innisfail finished in third spot with 23 points.

Generals' player/manager Jared Williams says his team is expecting quite a fight out of the Eagles throughout the seven-game series.

"Very awesome to get a close rival in a sense of we'll get reciprocal fans going each way," he said. "They're a good team in that they work together. They work hard, they get a lot of shots on net. They like to go to the net and try to bang and crash and make it hard on us in the defensive zone for sure."

Williams is hoping for a good crowd on Saturday night.

"The community support has just been unbelievable," he commented. "We've been so lucky to have the support that we do within this community...It's one big group effort."

Tickets for the game are $10 at the door. Students and seniors are $8. Puck drop is at 8:15 p.m.

Game 2 goes March 15 in Innisfail with a 7:30 p.m. start time.
