The Red Deer Rebels three-game win streak came to an end Friday night as the home side fell to the red-hot Medicine Hat Tigers 7-1.
Medicine Hat scored 1:26 into the contest when Ryder Ritchie scored his first of three goals on the night.
The Tigers would score two more in the first to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room at the first intermission.
Ritchie netted his second of the night 3:10 into the second to make it 4-0.
The Rebels only goal of the night would come just over a minute later when Nolan Schmidt scored his third goal of the season.
The Tigers added one more in the second and a pair in the third, including Ritchie's hat trick goal late in the frame to seal the 7-1 victory.
Ritchie finished the night with a total of five points, including two assists. It was his first career WHL hat trick.
Gavin McKenna kept his record 36-game point streak alive with a goal and two assists.
The Rebels outshot Medicine Hat 30-29. Red Deer went 0-for-7 on the power play, while the Tigers finished the night 2-for-5 with the man-advantage.
Red Deer wraps up its eight-game homestand Saturday night (Mar. 8) versus Swift Current. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
