The scene has been cleared after a jackknifed semi-trailer blocked the left southbound lane of the QEII Highway near Township Road 292, just north of Crossfield.
Alberta 511 initially reported the incident at 10:27 a.m. Monday. Traffic is now moving normally, but drivers are still advised to use caution as winter conditions persist.
Snowfall has tapered off for now, but more is expected later this week. Monday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 3 C, though wind chill values of -4 were reported in the morning. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop to -12 C with a wind chill of -15.
Highway conditions are improving around Airdrie, but motorists should continue to drive with caution and give road crews and plows space to work. Snow is expected to return Wednesday night and continue into Thursday.
