Lacombe & District FCSS is now providing free income tax filing for households with low to modest incomes.

"We have volunteers that are trained through the CRA to complete simple tax returns for people," said Community Projects Coordinator Wendy Griffin. "We have four volunteers that are ready to file your taxes for you online and we do it free of charge."

She explains that those who would like to use the free service can bring all of their paperwork down to the FCSS office in either Lacombe or Clive and they will do the rest.

The eligibility requirements to use the free program are as follows:

  • Individual: max total income $35,000
  • Couple: max total income $45,000
  • add $5,000 for one dependent and $2,500 for each individual dependent

Griffin says last year they completed about 550 returns.

The tax filing deadline for 2024 is April 30, 2025.
