The Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person in an apartment on 30 Street on March 10 at 7:59 p.m.
Upon arrival, a deceased 21-year-old female was located.
The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.
The deceased was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the death has been deemed as a homicide.
Although early in the investigation, police believe this was a targeted attack, and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
