The Red Deer Rebels kept their slim playoff hopes alive Wednesday night with a 3-2 win in Swift Current.

The victory prevented the Broncos from clinching the final playoff spot in the WHL Eastern Conference.

The Rebels stormed out to a 3-0 lead midway through the game with goals by Jaxon Fuder, Doogan Pederson, and Brett Calhoon.

Swift Current put up a fight in the second half with goals by Otto Hanson and Clarke Caswell but it wasn't enough as Red Deer pulled out the 3-2 victory.

Red Deer outshot Swift Current 29-22 and was 1-for-2 on the power play while the Broncos were 1-for-3.

The Rebels return to the Centrium Friday to face the Prince Albert Raiders at 7 p.m.
