A Red Deer resident was arrested multiple times last week for stolen vehicles.

The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on March 4.   

Police observed three vehicles travelling together, with one matching the description of a stolen vehicle.   

The suspect vehicle was seen driving down a dead-end road, where it became stuck in the snow.   

The driver was arrested.  

Mackenzie Dawn Hardy, a 24-year-old resident of Red Deer, was charged with the following offences:  

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 x2  

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle  

  • Flight from police  

  • Drive while prohibited  

  • Fraudulent concealment  

  • Possession of a controlled substance  

  • Drive without insurance  

Dawn-Hardy was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a Release Order.  

On March 11, while officers were conducting proactive patrols within Red Deer when they observed a vehicle matching the description of a known stolen vehicle.    

Officers followed the vehicle to the area of Gaetz Avenue and 63 Street, where the driver of the vehicle was arrested.  

Dawn-Hardy was charged with the following offences:  

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000  

  • Drive while prohibited  

  • Fraudulent concealment  

  • Breach of release order x2  

  • Drive without insurance  

  • Drive without registration  

Dawn-Hardy was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody.   

She is scheduled to appear in court on March 13, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
